‘시티헌터’이민호가 친아버지 죽음과 관련된 복수를 위해 ‘5인회 처단 프로젝트’를 시작했지만 결과적으로 ‘시티헌터’이민호는 답답한 현실에 통쾌한 일침을 가하는 서민들의 구세주 역할을 하고 있다. ‘시티헌터’ 속 곳곳에서 발견되는 현실 풍자 이야기들은 작금의 대한민국 현실과 크게 닮은 부분이 많아 시청자들의 공감을 사고 있는 것.
‘5인회 처단 프로젝트’ 1탄이었던 이경완(이효정) 의원은 사회복지 예산중 일부를 가로채 생활이 어려운 아이들의 밥줄마저 끊어놓았다. 종종 언론을 통해 불거져 나오는 고위 공직자들의 비리와 닮아있는 이경완 의원의 행태에 ‘시티헌터’의 활약이 응원을 얻을 수밖에 없는 상황.
또 다른 5인회 일원 중 서용학(최상훈)의원은 국방부 장관 출신임에도 불구하고 세 아들을 모두 군 면제 시키는 비리를 저질렀다. 멀쩡하던 아들들이 각종 병명을 이유로 군 면제 됐다는 증거를 캐내던 식중(김상호)은 “셋 다 병신인가보지”고 예리하게 일침을 가하기도 했다. ‘시티헌터’의 통쾌한 복수는 이제 개인의 복수 차원을 넘어 시청자들도 동참한 거대한 통쾌 프로젝트가 되어버렸다.
◆ ‘시티헌터’이민호와 박민영, 극과 극 오고가는 ‘물결 러브라인’에 시청자도 ‘두근두근’
‘시티헌터’ 이민호와 박민영의 이색적인 ‘물결 러브라인’도 눈여겨 볼만하다. 윤성은 태국에서 보낸 어린 시절부터 나나(박민영)를 오랫동안 짝사랑해왔지만 막상 나나 앞에서는 까칠한 태도를 연발하고 있다. 사랑에 빠질 수 없다고 스스로에게 주문을 거는 윤성이지만 점점 나나에게 빠져드는 마음은 어쩔 수 없는 것. 윤성과 나나는 친해진 듯 하다가도 티격태격 다툼을 하고, 서로 다시는 안 볼 것처럼 토라지다가도 한집 살이를 하게 되는 극적 만남을 이어가고 있다.
특히 윤성이 처단해야하는 서용학의원의 경호를 나나가 맡은 후 결국 나나의 총격에 윤성이 부상을 당하게 되면서 두 사람에게 비극적 상황이 찾아오기도 했다. 그러면서도 윤성은 위기에 놓인 나나를 극적으로 구해내는 등 두 사람의 오르락내리락 관계가 이어지고 있는 상황. 매회 긴장감을 놓칠 수 없는 관계를 유지하고 있는 윤성과 나나가 앞으로 어떤 관계로 발전해나갈지 시청자들의 기대감이 증폭되고 있는 이유다.
